Movie Review: New Year’s Eve

Still going on with New Year’s spirit, I asked hubby to get us ‘New Year’s Eve’ on DVD and dragged him to watch it with me; I’m not usually a fan of ensemble cast movies, but I lOVE Sarah Jessica Parker and I wouldn’t miss a movie she’s in!! And on this one, I’m glad I didn’t! Now I have to say, it’s kinda mushy & cheesy, but that doesn’t hurt every once in a while! I’m actually a sucker for romantic comedies where everything seem possible, and everyone is so in love, and the world is always in the brightest shade of pink! Don’t we all need that?

I won’t say much about the movie; I really enjoyed it, and throughout most of it, I had that silly smile on my face, that I wouldn’t wanna be caught dead with! 😛

My absolute favorite part, was Hilary Swank’s speech on what a New Year means when the infamous ball doesn’t raise above Times Square:

…it’s (the ball) suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the new year, to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by..To remember both our triumphs and missteps, our promises made and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt. Because that’s what new year is all about — getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about what if and start embracing what would be..So when the ball drops at midnight, and it will drop, let’s remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other. And not just tonight but all year long.

It’s a very cute movie, watch it with a loved one.. 😉

2012 Resolutions?

A new year is here, and it’s the time of the year on which we sign our annual contracts between us and ourselves. A lot of people have been truly inspired with the memories of 2011; wanting to improve for a better 2012, a better future, a brighter one? I’ve read so many resolutions all over the web, and of course, I have some of my own too! Each one of us have a different bunch of resolutions, it all differs according to experiences and expectations..But we all share the spirit, to change, to improve, to hope, and to make secret promises to ourselves.

I was browsing when I came across this list; Mohandas Gandhi’s top 10 fundamentals for changing the world, to be the change you want to see in the world..These are your basic rules, that maybe helpful for you to find your way to achieving your resolutions, maybe not all of them, but definitely some..

1. Change yourself: “You must be the change you want to see in the world.”

2. You are in control: “Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”

3. Forgive and let it go: “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

4. Without action you aren’t going anywhere: “An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.”

5. Take care of this moment:

6. Everyone is human: “I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps.”

7. Persist: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

8. See the good in people and help them: “I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won’t presume to probe into the faults of others.”

9. Be congruent, be authentic, be your true self: “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”

10. Continue to grow and evolve: “Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position.”

Whatever your resolutions are for this year and every year, keep in mind that all the change you want to see will start from within and never settle for less than that..

And always remember..

So live your life my darlings, always strive for the best, and don’t forget to be happy along the way xx

It’s a New Year!

Holy Moly! Last year was the most unsetteled and frenzy-like year of my life! It was turbulent and very ruffled! I never thought I would have to take decisions as critical as the ones I had to take..It started off bad, got worse, and finally got better towards the end of it..I learnt a lot and faced great fears and I can say, defeated them! 2011 added so much to me as person, to my experiences, and changed the way I looked at things for good! However, I’m thankful for it, as they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

So moving forward to 2012, hoping for a better year for sure! January 1st happens to be my wedding anniversary as well..I love the fact that every new year’s is actually a new year for us..It gives me that edge to make things even better every year 🙂

We had a great NY’s eve..Went to my friend’s party and had a blaaast! it was a great kick off! with hubby and friends, it was perfect and full of giggles 😀

We rented a Camaro for a change, hubby and I took turns driving it all the way to and from Mangaf ‘where the party was’, and we would see who can get it speeding more 😛 the streets were so empty and tempting on the way back..it was around 3:30 A.M, and the weather was p.e.r.f.e.c.t!

Well, the next day, we woke up, went for late breakfast, then went to see our families..By night we decided to go watch a movie at The Avenues, we head there, spend like 40 minutes looking for parking, then go up to the movies, find the longest queue, still decide to wait in that line all for the sake of watching a movie, any movie! We get to the window, and all the movies are fully booked! We thought of going for a quick dinner and some shopping..So we did, and we left the mall at around 11:30! On the way back home, in the middle of 5th ring road ‘Highway’, our car starts shaking! Hubby held on to the stearing wheel and went like ‘we have a flat tire’!!!! Oh No! Wanna know how tings could get worse? well, hubby had a flat tire a while back and used his spare, he then ‘forgot’ to replace his spare! So we were in the middle of the highway, at around 11:40 P.M, with a flat tire, and no spare! Joy!

We started calling our friends for help, everybody was ‘busy’ with something, but we got a number for a tow truck! Thank god he agreed to come! The situation got us kinda high! Sitting there, in the car, windows down, great breeze, fast cars passing by, and we’re just stuck! Great huh? With that, we were in such a good mood, laughed it off..Hubby wanted to call me a cab, but I’ve never been in one, and I got scared, I told him ‘I’ll get in the tow truck with you’! LOL and I was wearing a dress! Got home safe after all! THANK GOD! Quite an experiment getting in the truck with a dress! 😛

Well, so far this is my 2012, and I’m enjoying every bit of it..Tomorrow I’ll be back to work! I’ve been off for 16 days! The longest vacation in forever! But I’m ready to get back 🙂

How is your 2012 so far? Anything exciting?
