Movie Review: New Year’s Eve

Still going on with New Year’s spirit, I asked hubby to get us ‘New Year’s Eve’ on DVD and dragged him to watch it with me; I’m not usually a fan of ensemble cast movies, but I lOVE Sarah Jessica Parker and I wouldn’t miss a movie she’s in!! And on this one, I’m glad I didn’t! Now I have to say, it’s kinda mushy & cheesy, but that doesn’t hurt every once in a while! I’m actually a sucker for romantic comedies where everything seem possible, and everyone is so in love, and the world is always in the brightest shade of pink! Don’t we all need that?

I won’t say much about the movie; I really enjoyed it, and throughout most of it, I had that silly smile on my face, that I wouldn’t wanna be caught dead with! 😛

My absolute favorite part, was Hilary Swank’s speech on what a New Year means when the infamous ball doesn’t raise above Times Square:

…it’s (the ball) suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the new year, to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by..To remember both our triumphs and missteps, our promises made and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt. Because that’s what new year is all about — getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about what if and start embracing what would be..So when the ball drops at midnight, and it will drop, let’s remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other. And not just tonight but all year long.

It’s a very cute movie, watch it with a loved one.. 😉
